Bourn Music
The music curriculum at Bourn is planned in order to provide high quality musical education for all children. It takes into account the National Curriculum and the Model Music Curriculum published in 2021, but it is firmly based on what the teachers, including our music specialists, know our children need to learn in order to achieve high outcomes in music.
We are very proud of our music approach as it blends our own knowledge and skills that we have within the staff team alongside the support, coverage and progression of our chosen Scheme of Work (Kapow). We are very proud of our school Orchestra and to allow for the children to be ready to have this wonderful enrichment activity in Year 4 to 6 we also develop music knowledge and skills through our recorder teaching curriculum.
Our school Orchestra (consisting of a wide range of instruments) rehearses on a Thursday afternoon and then performs in our Community Celebration Collective worship on Friday at 9am. This is an open event for all parents and members of the community to attend and we would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to see our Orchestra in action.
