Year 3&4 Performance
Children in Year 3&4 performed their Musical Extravaganza this week. They sang and danced to songs from musicals including The Sound of Music, Matilda, Annie and The Wizard of Oz. They received well-deserved rave reviews, such as this one below:
It was such a pleasant evening to witness a wonderful performance- "Extravaganza". We thoroughly enjoyed the show. Thank you very much for your hard work with the children. Every aspect of the performance was amazing. It was so good to see the children performing with such confidence in front of a huge audience. We can imagine the dedication and effort it took to create such a fantastic show.
Well done to all the children and a special thank you to the staff who made this possible - Miss Nutland, Mrs McWilliams, Mrs Cox and Mrs Collins.

Year 6 Superstars!
This was SATs week, when year 6 children across the country take SATs Tests in grammar, spelling, reading and no less than 3 maths papers.
As ever, the tests were challenging but our Year 6s took them in their stride. They have worked hard, but most importantly, they prepared with a growth mindset, knowing that doing their best is the ultimate aim, rather than how many marks they got. All we can ever ask of our children is that they do their best - and this is what they have done. We are very proud of them, and I'm sure their parents are bursting with pride too!
Today they celebrated with a lovely Buddy Breakfast where they joined with Acorn children to have croissants and juice and a relaxed morning.

Cycling at Bourn
At Bourn we believe that cycling is an important life skill and our aim is that every child will be able to competently ride a bike by the time they leave in year 6. As part of this, we begin teaching cycling in EYFS and continue with cycling lessons in PE in Key Stage 2. We offer a tailored after school cycling club to children in Key Stage 2 who need additional support in learning to ride.
This week, children in Year 3 and 4 took part in Bikeability lessons. The aim of these lessons is to develop cycling handling skills in traffic free environments and includes the core functions for safe and responsible cycling.
Children in Acorn began their cycling lessons this week too - on balance bikes. Using a balance bike helps children develop gross motor skills and spatial awareness, both important skills.

Remembering Lyla
Today was a day when we especially remember Lyla Blue Glennen, who died three years ago, aged 5. We spent time in assembly remembering her and the things she loved, as well as looking at the creation of our Book Bus, which is our tribute to Lyla.
Rosewood Class also visited the tree we planted for Lyla and spent time sharing their memories.

Book Bus Fundraising News
Over the last few weeks, Lyla and Heath's great uncle did a skydive, which raised £915 and hopefully another £400 from match funding!
Also, the third annual 50/50 Walk took place on 6 April which is a 20 mile walk in Berkshire, Middlesborough and Manchester by family and friends of the Glennen family. This raised £1,250.
Well done and thankyou to all those who took part. The Book Bus fund is used to replace and add books, maintenance of the bus to keep it up to date and well looked after. We are also aiming to install solar panels to make it carbon neutral.
You can add donations through this link.
